The Final Week!

May 18th 2013 | Dan Grigoras

By far the busiest week for all with the biggest exam, fitness test, the Royal Court swearing in and the Pass Out Parade.
I feel that my brain, legs and uniform got stretched to the limit.  All eleven of us passed the final tests and we all stressed out for the Royal Court and the Parade where our families and close friends joined us for this memorable moment in our career.
Royal Court – For the readers which have never seen this room, I must say that it is quite a view. The room was built in the 13th century and some of the initial art decoration and furniture made a grand impression on me. We all stood up in front of the Bailiff and the Judge and became a warranted employee of the States of Jersey Police Force. Then we smiled in front of the cameras and marched out from the Royal Square.
Pass Out Parade – Saturday found us at the TA Centre where we marched in style in front of our colleagues of the highest ranks, families and special quests. Sir Hugh Orde (Ex- Chief Constable of the Northern Ireland 2002-2009) took the honour and led the ceremony, wishing us the best of luck in our new careers. Our march was accompanied by a fantastic official band that made us looking even better.
A big thank you to all our trainers, colleagues, families and friends, which supported us through this tough 15 weeks of training.
Now is time for us to join the real-life policing job. We all been attached to a uniform shift and together with our tutor we will see you all on the streets of Jersey.
