Today [Friday 24 March 2023], 60-year-old David Gerald Berry was sentenced by Magistrates Court after he pleaded guilty to the offences in February 2023. He received a 15 week prison sentence, a 5 year restraining order and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 5 years.

Police were alerted by an external agency that between the months of June and October 2022 a number of indecent images of children had been downloaded from the internet by someone at the address where Berry resided as the sole occupant of the property. 

Police executed a warrant under the Protection of Children’s Law at Berry’s address in October 2022 where police seized digital devices owned by Berry. States of Jersey Police Digital Forensic Unit recovered a total of 357 category C images on two different devices. Berry pleaded guilty when he appeared in court in February.
