Rape Conviction

Today [Friday 13 January 2023], 28 year old David Andrew Sullivan was found guilty of three counts of rape. The trial lasted five days and he will be sentenced later in the year.  

The offences took place in 2021 and following a self-referral to the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) an investigation commenced and Sullivan was arrested in March 2021.

The victim in this case has shown an immense amount of courage during this investigation and has been supported by specially trained staff throughout the whole process.

Detective Constable Jo Le Maistre said: “We are committed to investigating and prosecuting all domestic violence perpetrators and want to assure victims that they will be listened to and believed. There are a number of agencies who offer support and guidance to those who have been victims to domestic abuse.

“We continue to work alongside partners, especially support and advocacy services such as the SARC, JAAR and the Jersey Women’s Refuge, to encourage victims of sexual crime to report such incidents.”
