Grave & Criminal Assault Sentencing

Today [23 January 2023], 28 year old Mark Bartlett was sentenced to two years in prison for two counts of grave and criminal assault. He pleaded guilty at his last court appearance in November 2022.

Following a complex investigation for assaults that took place over a 12 month period, Bartlett was arrested in August 2021 and charged in March 2022.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Denis McGee said: “The victim in this case showed an immense amount of bravery and determination to see this through to the end. We want to assure victims that there are a number of agencies who are in a position to offer them support and guidance.”

SoJP has a dedicated department for investigating domestic abuse with a number of specialist resources it can call upon to investigate the crime and offer victims support.
