Today [Friday 13 January 2023], 33 year old Simon Guy Boschat was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for drug offences. He appeared in court in November 2022 and pleaded guilty to the charges.
During several drug warrants carried out by police in July 2020 a commercial amount of cannabis, a quantity of cash and several phones were seized. The phone of one of the suspects who was arrested at the time was downloaded and analysed, exposing a person who was responsible for supplying large quantities of cannabis during 2020 and 2021. That person was later identified as Boschat.
Boschat’s addressed was searched, but no drugs or cash were found at that time. He was however in possession of the phone that had be used in the aforementioned drug sales. He was arrested and his phone was seized, but he refused to provide officers with his PIN code to access the phone. His bank accounts were also analysed and confirmed his involvement in the sale and supply of drugs. He was charged on the 9 September 2022.
Detective Sergeant Jim McGranahan who heads up the Drug Squad, said: “We are a highly motivated organisation with the safety of the community at the forefront of our minds and we are committed to keeping illegal drugs and those who deal in these drugs off our streets.”
