Man convicted of historic sexual abuse

Following a six day trial in the Royal Court, 56 year old Ricky Derek Knight has been found guilty today [27 October 2022] of 14 offences relating to historical sexual abuse. He will be sentenced later in the year.

The offences took place over a prolonged period of time between 2013 and 2019 and Knight was arrested in June 2021 after the offences were disclosed to the police.

Both of the victims in this case have shown an immense amount of courage throughout this investigation and they have been supported by specially trained staff throughout the whole process.

Detective Constable Jo Le Maistre said: “We are committed to investigating and prosecuting all sexual offenders and want to assure victims that they will be listen to and believed, no matter how long ago the offences took place. There are a number of agencies who offer support and guidance to those who have been victims to sexual abuse.

“We continue to work alongside partners, especially support and advocacy services such as the SARC, JAAR and the Jersey Women’s Refuge, to encourage victims of sexual crime to report such incidents.”
