Grave & Criminal Assault

Yesterday [7 November], 29 year old Mark Bartlett appeared in the Royal Court and pleaded guilty to two counts of grave and criminal assault. He will be sentenced at a later date.

Bartlett was initially arrested in August 2021 and following a complex investigation was charged in March 2022.  The assaults took place during a 12 month period that commenced around October 2019.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Denis McGee said: “The victim in this case should be commended for her bravery and determination in seeing this through to the end. We want to assure victims that there are a number of agencies who are in a position to offer them support and guidance.”

SoJP has a dedicated department for investigating domestic abuse with a number of specialist resources it can call upon to investigate the crime and offer victims support.
