This morning States of Jersey Police officers executed four warrants at various addresses Island-wide as part of on-going intelligence work within the recently introduced Drug Squad.
Officers along with Jack, the force’s drug detection dog, seized approximately £10,000 in cash, and approximately £2,000 worth of cannabis from one address.
A 49 year old man was arrested for possession with intent to supply and money laundering offences.
Detective Sergeant Jim McGranahan who heads up the Drug Squad said: ‘Executing warrants to seize drugs and catch offenders is our overall objective, and a lot of hard work and preparation is required to get us to this point. The results from today show a job well done, meaning there are now less illegal drugs on the island’s streets.’
As a result of today’s actions, there are further enquiries to be made with the potential of more warrants being executed.
The Drug Squad was re-introduced in January 2021, with a dedicated team of eight officers whose primary focus is proactive work focusing on drug related investigations. To find out more about the Drug Squad see HERE.
