Indecent Images - Sentencing

Today [Friday 25 June 2021], the Royal Court sentenced 74 year old John Henry De Bourgonniere to two years and four months in prison for three counts of making indecent images of children and three counts of making indecent pseudo images of children. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years and subject to a ten year restraining order.

De Bourgonniere was arrested on suspicion of making indecent images of children in August 2020 after a warrant was executed at his home address. The States of Jersey Police High Tech Crime Unit recovered a total of 3847 indecent images ranging from category A – C, from several of the devices seized from De Bourgonniere’s home.

He was charged in January 2021 and entered a guilty plea when he appeared in court.

These are not victimless crimes, these images cause real harm to real children and the viewing and making of indecent images like these creates demand and so leads to further abuse. Any form of abuse against children will not be tolerated and the States of Jersey Police are committed to target those who offend in this way.
