John Sebastian Nicolle (48) has been sentenced today [Wednesday 30 September 2020] to four and a half years in prison for Grave and Criminal Assault, Common Assault and Perverting the Course of Justice.
He was initially involved in a domestic related assault in July 2019, but when a male acquaintance stepped in to intervene, Nicolle punched him and stamped on his head whilst he was on the floor.
Nicolle pleaded guilty to both assaults several days later and was remanded in custody. Whilst in prison he tried to pervert the course of justice by contacting one of the victims and a witness in an attempt to obtain a lesser sentence.
Detective Inspector Christina Maclennan, head of the Serious Crime Unit, said “This was a particularly violent outburst and crimes such as this should never be tolerated. We will do everything in our power to see offenders such as this face justice."
