Sentencing – Online Offences

The Royal Court has today, [Friday 2 October 2020] handed down a three year prison sentence to 64 year old James William Gervaise Le Gros after he pleaded guilty to seven offences. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years.

Six of the offences related to indecent images of children, and one offence was in connection to a UK Child Online Safety Team who had set up a decoy account online.

The States of Jersey Police were contacted in April this year when Le Gros had engaged with the online decoy profile of a 12 year old girl inciting her to perform sexual acts.

Any form of abuse against children will not be tolerated and the States of Jersey Police are committed to target those who offend in this way.

Anyone who has concerns about suspected Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation can contact the MASH on 519000 or the Public Protection Unit at Police Headquarters via 612612. Dewberry House can be contacted on 888222.
