Attempted Armed Robbery

Police are appealing for information following an attempted armed robbery at Morrisons on Gloucester Street, on Friday 24 January at 22:00.

A man wielding a knife tried to rob the shop as it was closing, the staff acted quickly locking themselves in an internal office, resulting in the man leaving empty-handed and without anyone getting hurt, however police carrying out the investigation into the attempted robbery would like to identify a car and its driver that were seen on CCTV footage.

A black or dark blue Mercedes, possibly a C Class was seen on CCTV on the inner road at the roundabout at West Park (near the old Inn on the park site) at approx. 21:45 heading towards Cheapside, it drove past the hospital and down Gloucester St. It parked on Gloucester St for approx. 20 mins before driving down to the traffic lights and then heading west.

Police are looking for anyone in the area who may have dash cam footage or private CCTV of this car at around that time.

Police would like to speak to the driver of this car or with anyone who may have seen this incident, the man or the car or anyone who has any information about this.
