Rape, Man wanted

Police are appealing for information following a report of rape in the early hours of this morning. This happened on La Rue a Don, by the bus shelter further down from Longbeach car park, near the junction of Gouray Village Main Road, between approximately 23:55 and 00:05.

A lone female in her late teens was waiting at the bus stop when she was approached by a man on foot who asked if she needed a lift. The offer was declined and several minutes later the man returned and asked once more, again the offer was declined. The female was then raped.

The man is described as approx. 40 – 50 years of age, about 5’9, stocky/muscular build with thick brown hair and a short brown/grey beard. He was wearing a large padded coat and a black hat, possibly a flat cap. The coat was described as being too big for him. He had an accent, possibly Mediterranean/Portuguese. He was not known to the victim.

The victim is currently receiving support from the SARC at Dewberry House and specially trained police officers.

Police are committed to finding this man and ask that anyone who was in the area last night who may have seen anything suspicious or anything of relevance, no matter how insignificant they think it might be, contact them immediately.

Anyone with dash cam footage or private CCTV in that area is also asked to contact police.
