SoJP recruiting now

States of Jersey Police (SoJP) are recruiting for new officers to join the team during 2020.

Applicants will go through a selection process over the next four months which will identify those with the necessary skills and potential to become a police officer.

The Force are keen to stress that they welcome applications from anybody who meets the qualifying criteria. Acting Superintendent Alison Fossey, who heads SoJP’s uniform operations said: “This is a fantastic profession that lies at the heart of Island life but we must better reflect the rich diversity of Jersey. If you’re good enough and you meet the qualifying criteria then you have an equal chance of success, regardless of your background.”

The exact number to be recruited depends upon a number of factors, including available funding and the number of serving officers who leave over the period. As such, successful applicants will be offered a start date or placed in a holding pool from where they’ll be brought forward for training when a space becomes available.

The first new recruits are expected to start with Norfolk Constabulary - where all SoJP officers currently complete initial training - in spring 2020.

More details can be found at  and the application process initiated via the Police Constable advert at The closing date for local applications is 6 September 2019.
