Attack on Springfield Road

Police are appealing for information concerning an incident which took place on 9 September in the early hours of Sunday morning at 02:15 on Springfield Road.

A woman was walking along Springfield towards the junction of Val Plaisant and Trinity Road, when a man grabbed her from behind and tried to pull her into a car park in Springfield Road. The woman was able to defend herself and stopped the attack by using her keys as well as biting the man on his right hand, which may have caused a visible injury. The man was heard to apologise to her before he grabbed her.

The man is described as being of Portuguese origin, in his late 30s, 6ft tall, a broad muscular build with short dark hair, styled slightly longer on the top. He had dark eyes and eyebrows. He was wearing black trousers and a black short sleeved top and he is believed to have tattoos on both arms.

Following this incident the man walked off in the direction of Rouge Bouillon. We would especially like to hear from and drivers or taxi drivers with dash cams that were in this area around this time.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their Anonymous Online Form at Crimestoppers-uk.org
