Operation Duke – Update

Police can now confirm that a positive identification has taken place as a result of DNA analysis and that the body discovered last Wednesday, 16 May, at Le Pulec beach is that of 37 year old Zsuzsanna Besenyei.

Following further enquiries and investigation since the discovery of Zsuzsanna, police are now treating this death as suspicious and at 06:35 this morning, a 54 year old man was arrested in St Helier on suspicion of murder.

The Deputy Viscount has been advised and SoJP have already engaged the Criminal Division of the Law Officers Department (LOD).

Up to 20 officers are now working on this investigation and on-going enquiries include elements of forensic, search, passive data, house-to-house and interviews. Family Liaison Officers have also been appointed, including a Hungarian speaker, who are working in support of the family in Hungary.

Detective Superintendent Stewart Gull said: “Our main appeal remains in respect of Zsuzsanna – where was she and her blue Ford Fiesta between Thursday 10 May and Monday 14 May? We are asking anyone with information about Zsuzsanna to please get in touch. They can call us on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
