Abusive Youths / Hate Crime

Police are appealing for information regarding an incident that took place on the promenade at Havre des Pas on Saturday 26 May 2018, between 17:30 – 18:00.

A 61 year old lady in a mobility scooter was verbally abused by a boy who mocked her disability her and used foul language towards her. He was with a group of 5-7 other youths and he is described as white, aged 14 – 16 years old, about 5ft 2, slim, dark hair in a wedge style, wearing a light greyish / green top and a light coloured jacket which was folded over his arm.

The incident happened on the promenade by the Fort D’Auvergne hotel as the lady was heading toward Mont Bingham. The group ran off and it is thought that they then boarded the bus at the bus stop around the corner, but this wasn’t witnessed by the lady and can’t be confirmed.

This incident left the woman feeling vulnerable, scared and intimidated and police would like to hear from anybody that saw or heard anything in that area at the time.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 612612 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
