Attempted Robbery

Police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery on Sunday 15 July sometime between 22:45 – 23:00.

A 55 year old man was approached by the first lay-by on Victoria Avenue and assaulted by two teenage girls in an attempt to get money from him. The girls did not manage to steal anything during this incident.

The girls are described as white, aged between 16 – 18 years of age, with blonde hair. One of the girls was approx. 5’8 tall, wearing jeans and a hoodie and had a mask similar to the ones used in the film series ‘Scream’. The other girl was shorter at approx. 5’ tall and wearing a white T-Shirt.

A 17 year old girl was arrested in connection with this incident and has subsequently been released on police bail.

Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or who could identify the girls involved to contact them.
