Gas Expolosion

Following a gas explosion at a property in St Clement in the early hours of Saturday 23rd September, a 40 year old man was taken to hospital with severe burns. He was flown to the Chelsea and Westminster Burns Unit on Saturday afternoon, but sadly died from his injuries at approximately 04:40 this morning.  He has been named as Michal Juzef Kmuk.  

The cause of the explosion is not being treated as suspicious and is being investigated by the States of Jersey Police and Jersey Fire & Rescue. A file is being prepared for the Deputy Viscount. 

One other person was also treated at A&E following the explosion, but was not admitted to hospital. 

Further agency work is to be carried out by Police, Jersey Fire and Rescue, Jersey Gas and the Health and Safety Inspectorate.
