Handbag found in search for Valerie

Rescue teams have found personal items belonging to Valerie Jehan in the search for the missing 75-year-old.

Officers searching the cliffs around Devil’s Hole have found Valerie’s handbag which contained her personal items including her mobile phone at around 4.30pm this afternoon.

The items have been recovered by a Fire Service line rescue team.

The discovery followed specific searches which had come about from the sighting by two further witnesses who came forward today.

Chief Inspector Chris Beechey said: “Sadly this discovery suggests what we have feared – everything now is pointing to the fact that Valerie got into difficulties in the area of the Devil’s Hole and has fallen into the sea.

The items were recovered from a sheer cliff face.

“Valerie’s family have been informed of this latest information and we continue to support them during this incredibly difficult time.”
