Body recovered from the sea

At approximately 0700hrs this morning, the Coastguard notified the States of Jersey Police that a body had been located at sea, by a passing fishing vessel off the coast of Noirmont.

A joint recovery operation was then conducted between the St Helier Lifeboat, Coastguard, Police and Ambulance and at approximately 08:15hrs this morning the body of an adult female was brought ashore.

It is not possible to confirm if this is the female body of missing person Valerie Jehan at this time. The Deputy Viscount has been consulted and a Home Office Pathologist will conduct a post mortem, this will take place in due course to assist with formal identification procedures.
