Bomb Threat

The States of Jersey Police can confirm that a bomb threat was made this morning with reference to the Magistrates Court in St Helier.

An anonymous call was received this morning by the police. Officers were immediately deployed, the building evacuated and the area cordoned off.
Emergency response vehicles were in attendance and traffic was diverted away from the general area of the Magistrates Court. Several prisoners within the building awaiting trial were escorted back to HM Prison.

The building is currently being searched by Bomb Disposal officers and police officers.

The police cordon on Union Street, between the Parade and Dumaresq Street remains in place for the time being and the public are asked to avoid that area until further notice.

The police continue to work alongside their other Emergency Services partners in order to resolve this matter in a safe and timely manner.

A further update will follow.
