The Magistrates Court was closed for approximately four hours yesterday, following a bomb threat received by police. The subsequent evacuation and search of the building by trained Police officers and Bomb Disposal officers found no evidence of any suspicious devices. The building was deemed safe and re-opened at 14:30 yesterday.
Several of the court hearings reconvened during the afternoon sitting and a couple more are due to take place today. Yesterday’s events are now subject to a full police investigation.
A spokesperson for the police said:
“We consider all threats to be very serious. The safety of our community is our top priority and thankfully, no explosive devices were located during the search of the building. The States of Jersey Police would like to thank the
public for their support and understanding during this incident.”
Anyone who may have information relating to the matter is asked to contact the Police on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
