Jersey Emergency Services Team Visit Tendering District Council For Event Planning Consultations

A team from the States of Jersey made a flying visit to Tendring District Council (TDC) to pick up top tips and share best practice in event planning and incident management.

The Jersey delegation were particularly keen to discuss a number of aspects involved in the planning of major events and multi-agency working during major incidents.

The Emergency Planning Officer, Joe Carnegie, said “We are immensely grateful to the team at TDC and their Emergency Services colleagues for supporting this visit.

“There are many similarities between our two areas, with TDC hosting a major Air Show and developing strategies to deal with coastal flooding for example, and it was an excellent opportunity to identify common processes and benchmark our work with the team at TDC.”
Mick Page, Leader of TDC, welcomed the group to Clacton Town Hall where there was a day of talks with those involved at the Council and the local Emergency Services.

“It is a real tribute to our team at TDC and to our Emergency Services that Jersey has come over to hold discussions on how we run things here,” he said.

The Jersey team was made up of Joe Carnegie (Emergency Planning Officer); Chief Insp Lee Turner (Police); Operations Manager Jason Hamon (Ambulance Service) and Station Commander Marc Le Cornu (Fire and Rescue Service).

Mr Carnegie said: “One of the clear lessons from our meetings was that the quality and professionalism of our respective organisations and people remains the defining measure in delivering major events and coping with incidents. We look forward to further developing our relationship with the team at TDC to the benefit of both of our areas.”
