St Aubin Fire

Just after 05:00 this morning, Jersey Fire and Rescue were called to a substantial fire in the St Aubin area.

Large flames could be seen coming from the Gallichan Marine premises, located midway along the Bullwarks. 25 firefighters, including retainers from town and the Western Station attended the scene and 4 Fire pumps plus the aerial platform were deployed.

Properties either side sustained minor damage and The Harbour Gallery, situated at the rear of the building, was also affected. The fire was reported to be under control by approximately 06:20 and thankfully no one was injured in the blaze.

St Brelade’s Parish Hall was set up as the designated Rendezvous Point and nearby residents were evacuated. The roads were closed from Le Mont Les Vaux to La Haule this morning for several hours and are now open, however, a section of road on the Bullwarks from Danny’s Restaurant to The Old Court House, remains closed.

The fire is under investigation, however the building is unstable and it may be a while before safe access can be gained. Visual checks are being done from the outside using specialist machinery.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
