Vandalism to Public Toilets

Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of public toilets along the coast have again been deliberately set fire to. The States of Jersey Fire and Rescue also attended the incidents and extinguished the fires.

The public toilets targeted are located as detailed below:-

  - MALE PUBLIC TOILETS, LA MARE SLIP, LA GRANDE ROUTE DE LA COTE (ST CLEMENT)

Incident Date/Time: 25-Oct-2014 between 00:01 AND 00:54

  - MALE AND FEMALE PUBLIC TOILETS, LA ROCQUE HARBOUR, LA GRANDE ROUTE DES SABLONS, GROUVILLE

Incident Date/Time: 25-Oct -2014 between 00:01 AND 01:32

  - MALE PUBLIC TOILETS, LA PULENTE, LA ROUTE DE LA PULENTE, ST BRELADE

Incident Date/Time: 25-Oct-2014 between 01:32 AND 03:50

- FEMALE PUBLIC TOILETS, JERSEY PEARL, LA ROUTE DES LAVEURS, ST OUEN

Incident Date/Time: 25-Oct--2014 between 01:32 AND 03:30

The fires are being treated as suspicious and it is understood that they were caused by toilet paper dispensers being set alight and left to burn.  A similar method was used in all four fires.

It is believed that these incidents have taken place during the early hours of the morning and whoever is responsible will have been mobile to get from one location to another.

No injuries or harm occurred to any persons during these incidents but a considerable amount of fire and smoke damage was caused to all the properties in question.

Did you see any vehicles in the area or people hanging around the toilets in the night?   Did you notice anyone smelling strongly of smoke?
