Community sport success

Officers and staff from the States of Jersey Police have joined forces with Community Sport Development to further engage with young people.

The Friday night community sport events kicked off in Millennium Park a few weeks ago with many youngsters joining in.

The initiative, run by Community Sport Development, is aimed at further engaging young people, and it seemed the perfect opportunity for officers to spend more time with them, out of uniform.

The event, which runs at Millennium Park from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, is not just about football and the main aim is to engage through sport.

Paul Brannan from Community Sports Development said: “The feedback from adults watching, and the young people taking part was excellent. All are really pleased to see the police engaging with young people in this way”

"Whilst this is voluntary the initiative is proving really positive."

The event is free and any young person is welcome to attend.
