Witness appeal following armed robbery

Co-op suspect
21/01/2014
Police are continuing with their investigations into an armed robbery which occurred at COOP Val Plaisant at approximately 08.00 this morning.

It is now known that a male, disguising his face and armed with a knife, approached a member of staff in the store and demanded cash. We can confirm that other customers and staff were on the premises and that no persons were injured or cash stolen.

A team of Detectives are now working on the enquiry and a number of witnesses have been spoken to. CCTV from the premises has also been recovered and is being reviewed. An image from the CCTV is now available (see attached) and the police are looking for the public to help identify who the male in the footage is. Whilst we recognise there is no clear facial image of the offender, we would appeal for anyone to contact us who recognises the very distinctive upper clothing and in particular the patterned image on the clothing.

The male initially detained and arrested has since been released from police custody pending further enquiries.

The police would like to appeal for any persons who may have knowledge or information about this incident to contact the CID office on 61220 or alternatively contact us anonymously through Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111 .
