SoJP Advent launches

Come behind the scenes with the States of Jersey Police’s advent calendar

Islanders are being invited behind the scenes of life as a police officer in this year’s States of Jersey Police’s Christmas advent campaign.

The idea is that as well as giving people helpful advice and tips to stay safe this Christmas people will also be giving a glimpse of some of the roles within the Force.

Discussing everything from drink awareness with the Licensing Unit and being a dog handler with the Dog Section to advice from two of our Domestic Violence Officers the idea is to open the door of the advent calendar and look at what goes into each job over the Christmas period.

Each day will feature a video interview uploaded to the Force’s YouTube account, a day in the life blog on the website, as well as top tips and videos about how to stay safe this festive season, shared via social media.

Chief Inspector Lee Turner said: “We always have so many important messages to give to people over Christmas, but we also want to give them an insight into some of the key jobs that officers will be doing over the Christmas period.

“As with every year the Force wants people to be safe and have an enjoyable time and little things can help them with that, simple things like keeping their valuables locked away to monitoring the amount they are drinking.

“It is also a chance for us to explain the roles of some of our many officers and staff who will be working over the Christmas period to keep the island safe.”

The campaign will run over a two week period beginning on December 8th and cover topics such as drink driving, the dangers of New Psychoactive Substances, scams and home security.
