Murder investigation update 9am

Three people remain in custody this morning on suspicion of the murder of 46-year-old Colin Chevalier.

Police were alerted to an incident at 10.20pm on Saturday, April 5th, before finding the body of Colin Chevalier at an address in Duhamel Place.

Shortly after 3am on April 6th, a 31-year-old woman was arrested, around 5.50am a 35-year-old man was also arrested, both in St Helier. Both were interviewed yesterday.

Just before 9am yesterday a further 35-year-old man was arrested in St Clement. He is currently under guard in hospital and has yet to be interviewed.

A Home Office pathologist flew to the island yesterday, and will carry out a post mortem today. Colin Chevalier’s body was removed from the address at around 9pm last night.

Forensic and evidential searches continue today, as well as further house-to-house enquiries and witness interviews. The suspects will also be interviewed further.

Officers would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area of Duhamel Place on Saturday between 2pm and 10pm to contact the Major Incident Room on 612923 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Officers would also like to trace the whereabouts of a VW Polo, registration number J93137, which was parked in Duhamel Street on Saturday, facing the wrong way down the street. Anyone who has seen the car is asked to call officers.

Specially trained Family Liaison Officers are still supporting Colin’s family.
