Plane ditches off coast of Jersey

Statement from Jersey Airport - 11.35am - Sept 4th
A UK based American registered Cessna light aircraft has ditched into the sea approximately 5 miles immediately west of Jersey Airport this morning. We understand 2 people were onboard the aircraft, which was heading to Jersey Airport from Dinan, France.
Search & rescue vessels, including CI Airsearch, a UK Rescue helicopter and a French rescue helicopter are currently assisting in the search and rescue operation, as well as lifeboats and other available watercraft in the vicinity.
Coastal visibility is poor at present but we understand that in the area being searched visibility is better.
As a result of the incident flow-control has been implemented at Jersey Airport, which could cause some delays for commercial flights.
