Battle road closures

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Article 2 of the Entertainments on Public Roads (Jersey) Law 1985 in connection with the Jersey Battle of Flowers and the Constables of St Helier and St Lawrence that certain roads will be closed or restricted in their use as set out below.
 
Lay-bys
 THURSDAY 1st August
  • Lay-by three closed from 6pm until Monday 12th August at 8pm
 
FRIDAY 2nd August
  • Lay-by two closed from 6pm until Sunday 11th August Midnight.
SUNDAY 4th August
  • Lay-by one closed from 6pm until Sunday 11th August at 8pm.

 WEDNESDAY 7th August

  • Lay-bys four, five, six and seven closed from 6pm until Saturday 10th August at 6am
From TUESDAY 6th and WEDNESDAY 7th August

From 6.00 pm until midnight, the road to the Underground Hospital (La Rue des Pres Sorsoleil) will be one-way up from St. Peters Valley. (Meadow Bank Battle of Flowers Float building)

PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN VISITING THE FLOATS OVER THE WEEK.

DELAYS ON ROADS

Expect delays from 5.00 am until 9.00 am on roads around the island.
From 6 am on Beaumont Hill, 7.00 am expect delays in St Peters Valley, 6.00 am until 8 am from the bottom of Trinity Hill along Rouge Bouillon, Elizabeth Place, Parade and Gloucester Street.

At approximately 6.00 am the Grouville float is going to be on Grouville Hill and then along Longueville with the St Saviour float, at approximately 6.00 am both floats going through the Tunnel and then on the Esplanade, Victoria Avenue.

From 5.30 am along La Route des Issues to Hautes Croix, down La Granda route de St Jean, the Queens Road until 6.30 am.

La Mont Felard from 5.30 am until 6.30 am.

St Peters Valley from 9 am until 9.30 am.
 
NO PARKING AREAS on the 8th and 9th August

St. Aubin's Inner Road from West Park to Bel Royal from 6.00 am Thursday 8th August until midnight on Friday 9th August
No parking in Gloucester Street from 9.00 pm Wednesday 7th until midnight on Friday 9th August.

There is no parking on Rue De Haut St Lawrence from Le Mont Cambria to La Route De St Aubins from 6.00 pm Wednesday 7th until Friday 9th at Midnight.
Mont Cochon from the junction of St Aubin's Inner Road on Thursday 8th at 9am until 7pm and on Friday 9th from 4pm until 11pm
 
ROAD CLOSURES THURSDAY 8th August

9.15 am until 7.30 pm La Rue deu Haut to traffic proceeding West from the junction with Le Mont Cambria and La Rue de la Ville Emphrie to Eastbound traffic, St Peters Valley between Bel Royal and the junction with La Rue du Haut, to Southbound traffic other than omnibuses and large goods vehicles.
 
At 9.30 am Victoria Avenue closed from Bel Royal to West Park, until 7.00 pm. This is also Paris Lane, Tyneville Lane, The Spur road First Tower, Farley's Lane, Rue du Galet, Peirson road, Esplanade between St. Aubins inner road and Gloucester Street. 
 
If you are coming down Mont Felard and you want to go to St Peters/St Brelade divert down La Rue De La Velle Emphrie on to St Peters Valley.
 
Patriotic Place two way and No Entry onto The Esplanade.
 
All Traffic coming along Route De La Haule will go though The Bus Lay-by than along St Aubin's Road as from 9.30 pm until 7.00 pm
Traffic coming along St Aubins inner road at Bel Royal as from 9.30am till 7pm will not be able to go up the Valley, you will need to take La Route De La Haule and then up Beaumont Hill, then turn onto La Rue du Craslin. 
  
CAUTION NOTICE

It is extremely important that you take care on the roads around the period of the Battle of Flowers, as there will be many thousands of people around the Esplanade, Parade and along St. Aubin's Inner Road. Please drive carefully and if at all possible please take alternative routes.

PROMENADE

The promenade and gardens on the seaside of Victoria Avenue between West Park and Bel Royal is closed to all which includes cyclists this is from 9.00 am until 7.00 pm on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th from 6.00 pm until midnight.  NO cycles will be permitted to use the Cycle Track. From 5.30pm on Thursday cyclist may be able to use the Victoria Avenue with care to cycle to Bel Royal, but from First Tower you may be able to go back onto the cycle track.
 
LIBERTY SERVICES

Bus services will operate as normal on Battle of Flowers Day.
The bus stop along the Esplanade is going to be out of use. You are required to use the bus stop on the Inner road above the lower park. This is from 9am till 7pm on the 8th August and from 6pm until midnight on 9th August.
 
The Liberty Information Office will be open until 8 am as normal on both Battle of Flowers Day and on Friday 9th for the Moonlight Parade.

Victoria Avenue closed from 6.15 pm until 3 am Roads closed are Rue du Galet, Paris Lane, Tyneville Lane, the Spur road First Tower, Farley's Lane and Peirson Road.

At midnight part of Victoria Avenue will open from Bel Royal to the junction of the Spur road First Tower. The rest of the Avenue will remain closed until 3.00 am

FLOAT MOVEMENTS “ FRIDAY 9TH

All the floats will be retuning back to their Parishes after the Moonlight Parade so expect delays from 11.45 pm on the following roads Beaumont Hill, St Peters Valley, Mont Felard, La Route Du Fort, Georgetown, Mont Millais, St Martin Road, St Aubins Inner Road, Rouge Bouillon and Trinity Hill.
