Pensioner jailed for child offences

A 67-year-old man has been sentenced to five years in prison for possession of more than a million indecent images of children.
 
William John Crowley, was charged with a number of offences relating to the making, possessing and taking indecent images of children.
 
He appeared before the Royal Court yesterday for sentence.
Following the sentence Detective Inspector Paul Kennea said: "William Crowley is a serious threat to children as demonstrated by the sheer volume of images he possessed.
 
"Protecting vulnerable children is a key priority for the police and we will continue to do everything we can to ensure that those who view, possess and distribute indecent images of children are identified and brought to justice"
