Happy Birthday SOJP - Time for tea

Police Headquarters geared up to welcome some very important guests today (May 24th) as children from Mont a L'Abbe School helped us celebrate our 60th Anniversary with a special street party.
40 youngsters from Mont a L'Abbe, and 20 of their teachers and helpers, joined us for cake and goodies at a special 1950s themed tea party in the yard at Rouge Bouillon.

As well as the essentials - sandwiches, jelly and cakes - the youngsters got a chance to look round some of the Force's police vehicles, meet police dog Ripper, have their photographs taken and enjoy some of the fun sounds from the 1950s.

Chief Officer Mike Bowron said: "I feel very proud to be part of the States of Jersey Police's 60th anniversary and the events yesterday were a wonderful way to celebrate the occasion. The presentation of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medals to many serving Police Officers, and the gift of a States of Jersey Police anniversary coin was a chance for me to thank officers and police staff for all their hard work over the years and for making the force what it is.

"In the afternoon we invited the children from Mont a L'Abbe School for a tea party, who were wonderful guests. They certainly looked like they were enjoying themselves playing with the police vehicles, two of our police dogs and meeting some of the Officers and Staff. We hope they enjoyed the day as much as we enjoyed having them here.
