Major drugs ring disrupted

A major drugs syndicate has been disrupted as a result of a States of Jersey Police operation, involving the French Authorities and other UK law enforcement agencies.

As a result one male, a Jersey resident, has been arrested in the UK resulting in the seizure of approximately £250,000 worth of Heroin.

Arrests were made locally of three males (one a UK resident) and a female.

A male and female have been released pending enquiries while two other males remain in custody.

Detective Inspector Steve Megaw said: "The States of Jersey Police would like to thank our colleagues in both France and the UK for their assistance. This is a significant seizure of a drug which would have otherwise made it to the streets of the Island.

"We remain committed in pursuing those involved in drug trafficking, seizing their assets and confiscating their ill-gotten gains. Our enquiries into this investigation remain on-going.
