Motorists reminded to hit the lights

States of Jersey Police are reminding drivers to hit the lights in the twilight hours.

The warning comes after calls from concerned members of the public saying that other drivers aren't using their headlights just before it is getting dark or before daybreak making it difficult for other road users to see them.

Road safety experts advise that the general rule is if visibility isn't clear then switch on your lights.

Road Safety Officer, Philip Blake said "Although I don't think this is a big problem in Jersey, I would just like to take the opportunity to remind people to just take a second and think whether other road users can see them.

"They may be satisfied that they can see but it's better to be safe and have the lights on, than to be sorry.
