Missing woman still not found

Police are renewing their appeal for a woman missing for almost a month.

Margarida Nascimento de Ascensao, was last seen around 9pm on Friday 16 December at her home in St Saviours Road, St Helier, and has not been in contact with anyone since.

Although police have received numerous calls from members of the public none of the sightings have been confirmed conclusively.

A team of dedicated officers has been working on the case since December and have spent time talking to members of the Portuguese community, conducting house to house enquiries and investigating many possible sightings.

Police are keen for Margarida, or anyone who knows where she is, to let them know she is safe.

Inspector Dave Burmingham said: "We are not only appealing to the public but we are appealing directly to Magarida. Please let us know you are safe, you are not in any trouble, and if you don't want people to know where you are that is fine. We just want to know you are ok.

The 31 year old, who is originally from Madeira, is described as around 5'2 (155cm) medium/stocky build with dark brown eyes and shoulder-length black hair that is usually tied in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans and black trainers.

Anyone who may have any information about Margarida's whereabouts, or may have seen a woman answering her description, is asked to contact States of Jersey Police on 612612.
