Officers rewarded for work with victims

2 States of Jersey Police officers are being commended by the force for their work with historic abuse victims.

Detective Sergeant Catherine Davison and Detective Constable Karen Sykes spent 3 years working with 4 victims, who had each been subjected to serious sexual abuse by one man which spanned more than 30 years.

On the afternoon of Tuesday 3 April, both officers will be presented with a certificate to recognise their achievements by Head of Crime Services “ Detective Superintendent Stewart Gull.

He said: "This was an incredibly complex case for the States of Jersey Police which presented a great many challenges for all involved and tremendous bravery on the part of the victims.

"Without the support of highly-skilled officers like DS Davison and DC Sykes it would have been even harder for the victims to stand up in court and face their attacker.

"We are proud of the work of the officers in this case and want to acknowledge how difficult it was and recognise that with their dedicated hard work a dangerous sexual predator is now spending 10 years of his life behind bars.
