States of Jersey Police, investigating the circumstances surrounding a suspected serious sexual assault in St Helier at the weekend, are appealing to anyone who may have been in the West Centre area of town late on Saturday night into Sunday morning, and who may have seen the victim, to come forward.
The assault on the 27-year-old Asian woman is believed to have happened sometime between 2.30am and 4.30am on Sunday 18 December 2011, in the grounds of Royal Bank Court on College Hill, after the woman had become separated from friends following a night out in the town.
The woman, who is described as around 5'2 with long dark hair and wearing a black and white spotted top, black trousers, black boots and carrying a large white handbag, had earlier been out with friends at the La Cala and Mimosa nightclubs and had been seen later walking alone along Bath Street towards Snow Hill.
The woman was taken to hospital following the incident and released after being treated for minor injuries. She is now being supported by specially trained States of Jersey Police officers as she helps piece together the exact details of the incident.
Anyone who may have any information that could help the investigation should contact States of Jersey Police on 612 612. Information can also be passed to the police anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
