States of Jersey Police are appealing for any information on the whereabouts of a 31-year-old woman who has been missing from her home since Friday (December 16 2011).

Margarida Nascimento de Ascensao was last seen around 9pm on Friday evening at her home in St Saviours Road, St Helier, and has not been in contact with anyone since then. Early enquiries with her known friends and family have failed to establish where she might be staying and police are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

Margarida, who is originally from Madeira, is described as around 5'2 (155cm) slim build with dark brown eyes and shoulder-length black hair. She was last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans and black trainers.

Anyone who may have any information about Margarida's whereabouts, or may have seen a woman answering her description since Friday, is asked to contact States of Jersey Police on 612612.
