Witness appeal following assalt on 17 year old

RELEASED TO MEDIA AT 9:00 AM ON WEDNESDAY 2 SEPTEMBER 2009

THE States of Jersey Police are seeking information about a youth who may have been assaulted over the weekend.

The Police are now trying to put information together about the teenager, who is 17 years old and was found on a bench on his own in the Springfield area on Sunday morning at around 3:30 am with a suspected broken cheek bone, bruising to his face, and a suspected fractured jaw.

Chris Beechey head of the CID explained: ˜The youth was found on the bench by two members of the public, who walked him to the Accident and Emergency department.

˜He can recall being at a house in Val Plaisant on Saturday night until about 2am, but thereafter d"s not recall his injuries or how he came to get them.

When he was found, he was wearing, blue jeans and a white t-shirt. He has a slim build, and short fair hair.

˜If anyone did see a fight, or anything which may explain this boy's injuries, it would help us a great deal with our enquiries. It is possible that the boy was not attacked; he may just have fallen and injured himself somehow, but we do need to be able to cover all lines of enquiry.'

Anyone with information can call the Police on 612612, or give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
