Vehicle document reminder following road check

RELEASED TO MEDIA AT 16:15 PM ON FRIDAY 6 NOVEMBER 2009

THE States of Jersey Police conducted a road check with DVS on Friday 6 November, between 7 am and 9 am, near Mount Bingham.

A total of 37 vehicles were stopped and checked over the two hour period, and a total of 5 drivers were reported for a range of traffic offences, including having no licence, offences relating to having only a provisional driving licence, and failing to notify their parish of a change of address on their driving licence.

A number of vehicles were sent to DVS for further examination and have been issued with vehicle defect forms.

Speaking about the road check, Insp Sara Garwood said: ˜The road check was one of a series of road checks that the States of Jersey Police conducts with DVS throughout the year.  We were pleased that the majority of drivers stopped had vehicles in good working order, with all their documents correct.

˜We would take this opportunity to issue a reminder for people to check their driving licence and registration documents and ensure that all their details are up to date.'
