Youth charged with 17 offences appears in Court

A 17 year old boy will appear before the Magistrate today (Thursday 7 May) charged with a number of offences relating to taking and driving away two cars, and other related and separate offences.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with the following offences, all of which were allegedly committed on 5 May in the Island.

Taking and driving away a motor vehicle from La Rue de la Boucterie, Trinity
Having no driving licence to drive a vehicle
Having no insurance to drive a vehicle
Two counts of failing to stop and report an accident
Driving without due care and attention
Taking and driving away a motor vehicle from La Route de la Trinite
Four counts of larceny from an address in La Route de la Trinite
Six other counts of larceny at different addresses in Jersey
This makes a total of 17 separate charges.

The States of Jersey Police will continue to target and detect youths whose behaviour threatens the quality of life of the majority of Islanders.
