Witness appeal following unexplained death in Bouley Bay area

RELEASED TO MEDIA AT 11:45 AM ON WEDNESDAY 01 JULY 2009

THE States of Jersey Police are appealing for help from the public following the unexplained death of a 43 year old local man in the early hours of this morning.

Police are seeking sightings of a white VW Transporter van, with the registration number of J85549, and Police are appealing for any sightings of this van either yesterday, or in the early hours of this morning, before the van was found at approximately 2:20 am today in the Bouley Bay area.

Enquiries into the death of the man continue, and the death is currently being treated as unexplained. The identity of the man will not be released until all next of kin have been informed.

A Home Office pathologist will be in the Island tomorrow in order to carry out a post-mortem.

Det Insp Kevin Molloy, head of the CID at States of Jersey Police said: ˜Sightings of the van before the death of the 43 year old would be very valuable to us, as we need to piece together his movements before his death to help with our enquiries.

˜Therefore, we would appeal for anyone with information about the van, or anyone who saw the van being driven, to contact the CID on 612200 as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can give information via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.'
