Latest five teeth examined by local expert

UPDATE FROM HAUT DE LA GARENNE “ RELEASED TO MEDIA AT 16.50 PM ON THURSDAY 29 May 2008

The latest five teeth to be found at Haut de la Garenne in the last week were examined by an expert in Jersey yesterday (Wednesday 28 May).
Again, these were all children's teeth (no adult teeth or bone have yet turned up) and again, most of them were very unlikely to have come out naturally before death.
Additionally, there were two teeth which were the same in the five, which means that beyond doubt there were teeth from at least two children.
Once again, although the context tells us that they were put in there after 1940, we do not know how or why they have come to be there. Once again though, we must have concerns at the fact that in a Children's Home where we have allegations of awful abuse, we are finding only the remains of children and not adults. This makes it important that we can try and get an accurate date for all of these.

 Media information:
The teeth examined include the one given as a ˜pool' photo last week shown at the press conference last Thursday.
