Unexplained death under investigation

THE States of Jersey Police are investigating the unexplained death of a 28 year old man who was discovered dead at his home in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 7 December).

Martyn Yann Roberts, who lived and worked in Jersey, was found dead at his home in the area of  Beach Road, St Saviour.

Police received a call regarding the death from ambulance paramedics at approximately 2 am on Sunday 7 December.

A 28 year old man is now in Police custody helping with enquiries while detectives continue to investigate the death.

Police are now trying to build a time line of Mr Roberts' whereabouts before he died, and are appealing for anyone who saw Mr Roberts in the 48 hours before he died to contact them urgently.

In particular, it is believed that a group of around 12 people may have witnessed a disturbance outside premises known as Pitstop near Spectrum Apartments in Gloucester Street in the late hours of Friday night and the early hours of Saturday morning.

Further details will be released by the States of Jersey Police in due course.

SIO for the investigation, Det Insp Mark Coxshall said: ˜The most important thing at this stage as that we gather as much information as possible. Therefore, if anyone feels they can help us or can tell us when they last saw Mr Roberts we would urge them to come forward and speak to us today.
