Man named following death

The States of Jersey Police are now able to confirm the identity of the dead man found yesterday (Wednesday 10 December) just before 4 pm in the water in the area of La Fregate.

The man has been named as 80 year old Patrick McCormack.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding Mr McCormack's death.

It is believed that Mr McCormack, who lived in St Peter, left his home at around 11.30 am yesterday and had caught a bus into St Helier by St Peter's Bars at around 12:00 pm on Wednesday afternoon. It is believed he may have been in St Peter's Bars prior to getting on the bus.

There is a sighting of him in Gloucester Street at approximately 12.30 pm. However, it is not known were Mr McCormack was between 12:30 pm and when he was found at 4 pm.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information who saw Mr McCormack yesterday to come forward to help them build a picture of where he was. Mr McCormack was wearing a light blue fleece jacket, black trousers and black sh"s. He is described as being around 5' 2'' tall, with a slim build.
