Vehicles taken off roads following road check

States of Jersey Police and Driver and Vehicle Standards conducted a road check near Commercial Buildings this morning between 7 am and 9 am and as a result, two vehicles, both Transit vans, which were grossly defective, were taken off the road. Their faults included problems with steering, oil leaks and a rotted chassis.

One other vehicle which was checked was found to be deregistered in the UK. Of the 20 vehicles which were stopped and checked, a dozen defect notices were served.

DVS and the Police continue to urge all drivers to ensure that their vehicles are in a roadworthy condition. Due to their commitment to road safety, States of Jersey Police and DVS will continue to carry out joint road checks.
