Men in custody following Bowie knife incident

TWO men have been arrested and are currently in custody following an incident in town last night involving a Bowie knife.

The two men, aged 22 and 19, were seen to be fighting near the Ambulance Station at Rouge Bouillon at around 9 pm. The knife was not used to injure anyone, though it was produced.

Both men have now been arrested for possession of an offensive weapon.

It is known that the area was busy at the time of the fight with both pedestrians and motorists. Although some witnesses have been spoken to, others are asked to come forward to give details.

Both the men involved in the fight are described as being of dark European appearance.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact Police Headquarters on 612612 or give information anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Insp Diane Wheeler said: ˜While knife crime is unusual in Jersey, there have been some incidents involving knives recently reported to States of Jersey Police. We will continue to deal with such incidents robustly, and send out a message that using knives in a threatening way is not acceptable.'
