Have you or someone you know been victim of a Hate Crime?
We work with True Vision and Stop Hate UK to provide platforms for reporting hate crime, both online and by phone.
Hate crime comes in many different forms and can be on the grounds of race, religion, age, sexual orientation, transgender identity and disability, however we know that the overwhelming majority of victims are reluctant to report their experiences to the authorities and shortfalls in national data collection methods also mean that many such crimes remain unrecorded, leaving them unresolved and invisible.
Stop Hate UK provide a telephone helpline for victims and witnesses of hate crime, providing independent support and advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call them on 0800 138 1625 to report hate crime.
True Vision has a dedicated Jersey page that islanders can use to report hate crime. True Vision also has a library of resources on hate crime and whilst it offers a secure online reporting facility for registering incidents, it also seeks to provide guidance on what is hate crime and signposts users to other partner agencies that can provide information and support. The True Vision Incident Reporting Form can be found HERE. (Just scroll down to 'S' for States of Jersey Police.)
Stop Hate UK are able to communicate in different languages if requested and they also have a Text Relay service, enabling people who are deaf or have other hearing or speech impairments to use the helpline. People can also report using a British Sign Language service via their website.
Both services provide the opportunity for people to report anonymously.
